Mr. Searle’s name has been inscribed on the Merewether (Mitchell Park) Memorial Gates and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall. Name not inscribed on the Merewether Public School Roll of Honor.
Younger brother James Alfred (30th & 36th Battalions, Reg No-5091, born 1887, KIA 4.4.1918) memorialised same location.

The headstone Plaque proudly tells us of the brother’s service with the 1st A.I.F., and I have placed poppies at the gravesite in remembrance of George’s service and the supreme sacrifice of brother James for God, King and Country.
Would probably be officially commemorated with a Commonwealth War Graves Plaque at the gravesite, section-123 grave-82
Lest We Forget.
